Synthesis of Novel Nitro Substituted Benzothiazole Derivatives and Antifungal Activity against Aspergillus niger Akhilesh Gupta Most alarming of all are the infection that caused by Aspergillus (A) niger, it was reported that resistance is developing for all currently available drugs; hence, current trends suggested that there is a requirement to develop a new replacement drug which is effective against resistant fungi having lesser toxicity as well as economical also. In view of the requirement benzothiazole nucleus containing compounds bearing nitro group substitution planned to synthesize and evaluate for antifungal activity against A. niger. C-6 nitro substituted benzothiazole derivatives were synthesized by reaction of 3-chloro-4-nitroaniline with potassium thiocyanate under temperature control and presence of bromine in glacial acetic acid and ammonia. 2. Synthesis, Characterization and Antifungal Activity of Metals Complexes having tetrahydro-1,2,4-triazine based Ligands Anand Mohan Jha, K. K. Jha, L. K. Mishra & Sangeet In present work we have reported the synthesis of some novel metal complexes containing 4- [1E- (1Hbenzimidazol-2-yl) phenylmethylidineimino)- 6- aryl-5-oxo-3-thioxo 2,3,4,5- tetrahydro- 1,2,4- triazine (BpartrH) ligands. Synthetic utility was further supported by synthesizing complexes with metals ML2 (M= MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII). All the synthesized complexes were characterized by IR and UV spectra and further supported by elemental analysis. Novel Analytical Method Development and Validation for Simultaneous Estimation of Metformin Alpha Lipoic Acid in Bulk and Pharmaceutical Dosage Form by UV Spectrometric Method Mayur Patni and Swati Rawat A rapid, simple, selective and precise UV- Visible Spectrophotometric simultaneous method (Vierodt’s Method) has been developed for the determination of metformin hydrochloride (MFH) and alphalipoic acid (ALA) in bulk forms and solid dosage formulations. The spectrophotometric detection was as per carried out at an absorption maximum of 232 nm and 334nm for MFH and ALA respectively using phosphate buffer of pH 8 as solvent. The method was validated for specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, robustness and ruggedness. Novel Analytical Method Development and Validation for Estimation of Clinical Important Simvastatin in Bulk and Pharmaceutical Dosage Form by UV Spectrometric Method Using Phosphate Buffer Solubility Suvarna G. Bhokare and R. P. Marathe According to World Health Organization statistics, more than 16 million people die of cardiovascular disease each year, and 7.2 million deaths in 2001 were caused by heart disease. By the year 2020, approximately 25 million deaths annually worldwide are expected from cardiovascular disease, and almost half of those deaths (11.1 million) will be from coronary heart disease. Simvastatin, an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3 methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase, is administered in the form of lactone prodrug. Simvastatin lowers plasma cholesterol by inhibiting 3- hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase and found most effective for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The present study was undertaken to develop and validate a simple, accurate, precise, reproducible and cost effective UV-Visible spectrophotometric method for the estimation of simvastatin in bulk and pharmaceutical formulation.
